Paneldiscussion (in English): Why are we strangers to one another? A change of perspective
Exploring how art and dialogue can help us challenge established ways of thinking and promote an open, diverse, and inclusive society.
In this talk, we will exchange ideas about how participatory approaches can create opportunities for empathy, mutual understanding, and learning across different experiences and perspectives. We will explore how simple interactions and shared activities can encourage people to question assumptions and engage with one another in meaningful ways, rather than looking at major initiatives.
Addressing racism often starts with listening, exchanging ideas, and recognizing one another as active participants in society. How can small gestures, shared experiences, and everyday encounters help us move beyond tolerance and coexistence towards genuine participation and inclusion?
This talk brings together the perspectives of immigrants and professionals working in the field to discuss practical ways of bringing dialogue through participatory practices. We believe that creative activities and simple collective actions can open spaces for conversation, reduce barriers, and encourage understanding.
Mutual understanding does not mean agreeing. It means to create opportunities for people with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to understand how others see and experience the world. In this context, dialogue and play become valuable tools for participatory learning. Play creates situations where people interact, cooperate, negotiate, and solve problems collectively. Through simple participatory activities, moments that challenge stereotypes, encourage curiosity, and spark conversations arise. This might not happen in more formal settings, where anti-racism is only discussed, instead of practiced through everyday actions.
